Orthotic Care Services | Innovating Outcomes for Kids

When Scott Hinshon saw his opportunity to take over the leadership of Orthotic Care Services, the name gave him pause. However, he made the leap, bought the organization in May 2008, and decided to keep the name. Its simplicity echoed his focused, passionate drive to help pediatric patients in need.

"It's Not What It Is, It's What It Does."

This phrase describes the philosophy behind the products and services that we provide. We're not trying to design braces; we're trying to develop solutions. Our process and brace designs work together to create solutions to achieve your and your child's goals related to mobility, deformity mitigation, and pain prevention/reduction. Decades of experience and applied learning, combined with research, have allowed us to design comfortable and functional orthoses that address the biomechanical needs specific to pediatric conditions. However, successful orthotic intervention is more about the process than the device.

Creating Outcomes Through Collaboration

Our collaborative care model has been the foundation for developing innovative orthoses that differentiate us. We partner with Children's Hospital and Clinics in Minnesota and other Twin Cities pediatric organizations to provide outcomes to kids. Collaboration has inspired a culture at Orthotic Care Services for curiosity and creativity.

Our process begins with listening to your concerns and gathering information to help us better understand your child's needs. Our team uses these clinical findings to establish shared goals for your child. These goals define the motion control strategies and brace design parameters that enhance mobility and encourage rehabilitative change for each patient. We feel blessed to have the opportunity to help by improving mobility with comfortable and functional orthoses that achieve outcomes that last a lifetime.

Clinical Findings

Documenting the current state of these clinical measures allows us to track improvement over time.

Goals

Listening to your concerns and comparing clinical measures to the age-appropriate norms allows us to develop shared goals for your child.

Plan

The orthosis is simply a tool. We will follow your child throughout the treatment process to track their progress towards our established goals.

Recommendation

The goals define the motion control strategies and design features necessary for optimal function.
